Why do I want to tell you about this game?

I first encountered this game at a student’s house, where the parents told me how well the child’s non-verbal reasoning skills had been developed. They wanted to help their 8-year-old daughter prepare for the 11+ exam and sought alternative, fun ways to help build non-verbal reasoning skills.

This got me thinking, so I ordered this game later that week, started playing it myself, and tried it with a few of my younger students.

Over time, when tutoring some of these students, I noticed that the game did help with developing spatial thinking skills, and it was fun to play!

In this review, I will discuss the Gravity Maze game in more detail, including its pros and cons, how to play it, and what people worldwide think about it.

You should then be able to decide whether you would like to get this game.

What do I think is good about this game?

Critical Thinking

This is when you think things through their logical conclusion and act accordingly.

When you play this game and select a challenge from a challenge card, you are given a start and end point, which you will need to get to complete the challenge successfully.

In addition to this, you are also told on the challenge card what pieces you are allowed to add to your maze.

To successfully get your marble to go down the slopes, you will learn from earlier mistakes, use critical thinking, and plan to solve the problem of getting the marble to roll down from the start to the target point.

Your spatial reasoning will be developed when going through the challenges.

Even after you’ve completed all challenges, from easiest to most difficult, you will have developed high-level thinking skills to construct your challenges.

STEM Learning

This game introduces STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in a fun and practical way.

It involves applying your STEM knowledge (such as gravity, momentum, and the trajectory of the marble) to construct gravity mazes comprising towers, ramps, and barriers.

Using STEM skills and having fun is an excellent way to prepare children for future careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.

Different Levels of Challenge

This Gravity Maze game comes with 60 challenge cards with different difficulty levels. It starts with easier challenges and gradually increases in difficulty level as you play through them.

What can be improved?

Age Limit

This game is ideal for ages 8 and up, including adults, but younger children may need some assistance and supervision with playing the game.

Running out of challenges

There are lots of different challenges to complete, but some players may get through all activities quickly since this game can become quite addictively fun.

However, you can also create your mazes and challenges, so players will always be able to find creative ways to challenge themselves.

Is it easy to play?

The instructions for how to play this game have been written clearly and are very easy to follow. I will briefly explain how this game can be played.

The selected challenge card below shows the starting position (white dot block) and the red target block. You will also notice that there are black dots; they must be aligned correctly for all challenges.

Those blocks must be put onto the 4 x 4 grid before selecting the other blocks from the “ADD TO GRID” blocks.

Where it says, “ADD TO GRID,” only these are the blocks allowed to be used to complete this challenge.

To get the marble from the white dot block to the red block, the player needs to use some or all the “ADD TO GRID” blocks to connect the white dot block to the red dot by building a maze that the marble can roll through. The blocks have ramps inside them.

You will win the challenge if you can build a maze that allows the marble to roll from the white dot block to the red block, using the “ADD TO GRID” blocks to build your maze.

The back of each challenge card also has the solutions to each problem. This is very useful to have.
