Who am I, and what is parentpupil.com all about?
Hello, my name is Vic Bhachu, and I’m the founder of the parentpupil.com website. In my daily life, I constantly find myself juggling two highly significant roles: that of a nurturing father to two vibrant young children and a teacher.
I am a UK-qualified teacher teaching maths and sciences for over twenty years. I have worked in many kinds of middle and secondary schools, including private ones and some special places catering to unique educational needs.
Being both a teacher and a parent has been quite the ride! It’s given me a first-hand look at how to juggle school demands with the chaos of home life.
I have learned a lot from these experiences. I am now on a journey to help provide valuable insights, actionable tips, relevant news, and recommended resources, enabling you to balance school expectations with home challenges for your children.
My Story as a parent and teacher
Rewind twenty years, and the classroom was a whole different place! Many positive changes have occurred, such as the greater use of technology, a diverse curriculum, and much focus on student well-being.
However, class sizes are getting a lot bigger; there’s an increase in exam pressures, less money for schools, and growing teacher workloads.
As you can see, there are many positives, but classes of more than 35 children, high exam pressures, budget constraints, and teachers working more than sixty hours a week make it very stressful for children to thrive at school.
Children spend most of their time in school, so not getting a positive experience affects their home life.
I have seen this negativity occur in the different kinds of schools I’ve been fortunate enough to experience working in. I have started putting my children in the shoes of those I teach at school.
During the COVID lockdowns, I had much time to reflect on how different schools are today and how I can stop my children and other children from having negative experiences at school.
After the lockdown, it became even more difficult for children to learn when returning to the classroom. There are many reasons for this, such as changes in work patterns, which I’ve experienced first-hand.
Many parents now work from home, as professionals and as parents. Being a parent is an essential job with challenges in today’s ever-changing world.
Technology has opened our eyes to different ways of learning, and many children I’ve spoken to have told me that their school is still living in the past.
This is not necessarily what I think but what I’ve been told by hundreds of pupils I’ve worked with. If this is what children think, how can we help them believe in schooling and keep them focused?
So, why am I here to help?
As you can see from my experiences, balancing school expectations with home challenges is becoming increasingly difficult. I know this as a parent and teacher, and I love sharing my experiences with other parents with school-aged children.
Whenever I learn a new way of making home and school life more manageable for children, I always love sharing this with parents, relatives, work colleagues, and my friends.
By writing these blog posts on this website, I can reach out to more people and help more parents understand how they can help their children be successful.
So, what’s my dream for this blog?
I picture it as a buddy for folks in the UK and all over, helping us balance school tasks and home vibes.
My deep understanding of this from my personal and professional experiences has put me in a position to share valuable insights, actionable tips, relevant news, and recommended resources so that you can help your children balance school expectations with home challenges.
Every time I learn something new, I look forward to carrying it out and sharing it with you so you can act on it and help your children thrive! In a nutshell, my goal is to help you achieve your goals for your children.
Anyway, that’s all about my professional and parenting experiences. I hope you find this helpful content here at parentpupil.com.
